Break in mileage is done, time to change the oil and get it ready for a date with the dyno.

What did you do for break in?? I have to do 1500 miles nothing over 4000 rpm for 500 miles, then i can go to 5000 rpm for the next 500 miles and 5500 for the last... its going to take me years!!!!

400 miles on the break in, just no WOT and nothing over 4000. It’s a hydraulic roller setup, so it doesn’t require quite as much of a delicate interval.

Oh man, mine is shim over bucket, its a killer...im gonna change the oil by time, not distance...next year i might be able to have fun!

Yeah, just before I was about to ask my builder on break in guidelines (pen and paper in hand), some guy walks in distraught over his flat tappet that he ran for 15 minutes without a zddp treated oil. Lathed the lobes off that cam in a hurry... He’d been told to use the right oil, but had just run conventional dino oil.

The builder put in break on oil, after which i have to switch it out to amsoil z rod 20w50, or redline 20w50, my choice, i think the amsoil has more zinc in it though..
